WR - Mysteries of the Organism ( Serbian W.R. - Misterije Organizma ) is a Yugoslav film from 1971 . Directed by Dušan Makavejev . The film is based on Wilhelm Reich's theory .
action
The film is a collage of documentary and feature film as well as set pieces from historical films. One film that is cited particularly often is the Stalinist propaganda film The Oath of Micheil Tschiaureli from 1946. The plot of the film is the love of the Yugoslav communist Milena for the Soviet figure skater Vladimir Ilyich. Milena also calls for sexual liberation as a consistent continuation of communist ideology; Fascism is seen as the suppression of sexual forces, whereas Vladimir Ilyich stands for the suppression of instincts. Vladimir Ilyich finally kills Milena by cutting off her head. There are also documentary recordings from the Vietnam War. The film ends with a scene in which Vladimir Illjitsch wanders through Belgrade by Bulat Okudschawa to the song As long as the earth is still turning .
criticism
"A provocative and at times shocking collage that points to tension and aberrations in sexuality without being able to get to the bottom of the context in its satirical, cabaret-like form."
