Wachelkofen is a district of the municipality of Hohenthann in the Lower Bavarian district of Landshut . Until 1972 it formed an independent municipality.

Wachelkofen is located in the Hallertau about three kilometers southeast of Hohenthann.
history
The barrows near Wachelkofen indicate an early settlement of the area. Ludwig and Heinrich von Wachelkofen are mentioned first in documents. In the time of Duke Otto II , a Hagen von Wachelkofen drew as a witness.
Wachelkofen formed a chairman and in 1752 consisted of nine properties, three of which belonged to the Landshut hospital . In 1830, Wachelkofen was run with 185 residents, who were divided among 26 families. The districts of the municipality Wachelkofen were Altenkofen, Ettenkofen, Penkofen, Pfarrkofen, Roseneck, Wachelkofen and Wachelkofenreuth. As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Wachelkofen was incorporated into the municipality of Hohenthann on July 1, 1972.
