Elections in Tuvalu

The unicameral parliament of Tuvalu, Fale Fono i , is elected every four years directly. Every Tuvaluan elects a direct representative for parliament in his constituency with one vote. The Prime Minister of Tuvalu is elected by Parliament. The country's governor general is appointed by the head of state, currently Elizabeth II , on the proposal of the prime minister.

In the referendum on the monarchy in Tuvalu in 2008 , almost two thirds of the population voted in favor of maintaining the monarchy .
