Waldemar Magunia

Waldemar Magunia (born December 8, 1902 in Königsberg (Prussia) ; † February 16, 1974 in Oldenburg in Holstein ) was the leader of the Sturmabteilung (SA) in East Prussia and Commissioner General in Kiev .

Life

After attending secondary school, Magunia took part in the First World War as a volunteer in the foot artillery regiment "von Linger" (East Prussian) No. 1 on March 28, 1918 . He became a member of a volunteer corps and resigned from army service on December 31, 1922. He then completed an apprenticeship as a baker and passed the journeyman's and master's exams. Then he worked as a master baker in Königsberg.

Magunia joined the NSDAP in June 1921 and was appointed leader of the first SA in East Prussia . From 1932 until the dissolution of the corporation in October 1933 he was a member of the Prussian state parliament . In 1933 he was briefly a member of the provincial parliament of the province of East Prussia . At the end of 1933 he became a member of the Reichstag , president of the East Prussian Chamber of Crafts, state master craftsman and NSDAP regional economic advisor in East Prussia. From 1937 to 1941 he held the function of Gauobmann of the German Labor Front (DAF) in East Prussia.

During the war Magunia took on leadership roles within the framework of the German occupation policy. From August 1941 to January 1942 he was the representative of the head of civil administration in the Bialystok district and deputy of the East Prussian Gauleiter Erich Koch . From 1942 to 1944 he was General Commissioner in the General District of Kiev . In 1944 he was appointed SA Oberführer.

After 1945 Magunia was operations manager in Oldenburg in Holstein . Politically, he was active in the German Reich Party (DRP), on whose state list he ran for the Bundestag in 1957 .
