Waldemar Podolski (born April 4, 1955 in Poland ) is a former Polish football player .

Career

Podolski began playing football at GKS Walka Makoszowy , a district club from Zabrze . He later moved to GZKS Sośnica Gliwice as a youth player . In 1978 he was committed as a midfielder by the then first division club TS Szombierki Bytom . There Podolski played only a single league game for the club in the second half of the 1978/79 season.

Shortly after the start of the 1979/80 season, in which TS Szombierki Bytom was then able to win the Polish championship, Podolski moved to the then second division club KS Górník Knurów . In the 1981/82 season he finally played for the second division ROW Rybnik and scored 16 goals. He finished third in the season's top scorer list.

After the season he returned to Górník Knurów, where he played until his retirement in 1987.

Private

After his time at Szombierki Bytom, Podolski completed his teaching degree in English . In 1987 he came to Germany with his family as an emigrant and moved to Bergheim near Cologne . Waldemar Podolski's parents had already moved there as former citizens of the German Reich . He is married to Krystyna Podolska , who was a member of the Polish national handball team. Both are parents of a daughter (* 1980) and a son, Lukas Podolski (* 1985). He is also a soccer player and played for the German national team .

From February 1990 to January 2017, Podolski worked for the heating manufacturer Vaillant in Bergheim .
