Waldemar Zorn (missionary)

Waldemar Zorn (* 1950 in the Altai region , Siberia , Russian SFSR ) is a Russian-German missionary , head of the publishing house Licht im Osten and an author .

Waldemar Zorn grew up in the former Soviet Union , where he trained as an electrical engineer . He was involved in the underground church as a pioneer of evangelical missionary work in Eastern Europe . In 1982 he emigrated to West Germany with his wife Elvira, where he took over the publishing management of the Missionswerk Licht im Osten as coordinator for the CIS countries and worked there as a mission inspector for many years until his retirement in 2016. He is editor of the magazine Licht im Osten: News from the mission in Russia , Eastern Europe and Central Asia .

Zorn initiated the publication of a linguistically revised translation of the Bible in Russian , the Russian- language two-month magazine “Glaube und Leben” (Faith and Life) and since 1990 has been the chief editor together with his wife of the children's magazine “Tropinka” (German: The Little Path), which appears in nine languages and reached more than 1.5 million readers. After the end of communism and the collapse of the Soviet Union, he accompanied the establishment of independent mission organizations, especially in Russia, Ukraine and the Baltic States .

Since 1996 Waldemar Zorn has been chairman of the “Israelitic Messianic Congregation” in Stuttgart , whose members are made up of messianic Jews and Protestant Christians . He is the author of several books in German as well as in Russian.
