The Roman Catholic forest chapel in Unterwittighausen was built around 1840 on the edge of a mountain forest. It forms the end of the Unterwittighauser Kreuzweg . This consists of the forest chapel and the cast iron station boards. Today the forest chapel is owned by the parish. From this, the chapel was extensively renovated several times. The chapel, which has been run by the Prax family for many years, is located between Bütthard and Vilchband . It is open day and night.

The forest chapel belongs to the pastoral care unit Grünsfeld-Wittighausen, which is assigned to the deanery Tauberbischofsheim of the Archdiocese of Freiburg .
