Waldviertel Court Theater

The Waldviertler Hoftheater , Austria's northernmost theater, has existed for over 20 years in Lower Austria, near the border with the Czech Republic . An old mayor's yard in Pürbach , a place near Schrems in the Waldviertel , was converted into a theater for this purpose. The director of the Waldviertel court theater was Harald Gugenberger (1953–2015). The television actor Wolfgang Böck ( Trautmann ) is a founding member of the court theater. Every year around 13,000 to 15,000 people from the region and the rest of Austria visit the theater. After a winter-proof renovation in 2001, it is now played all year round. After the death of the founder Harald Gugenberger in 2015, it is continued by his son Moritz Hierländer.
