Łukasiński Memorial in Warsaw

Łukasiński was born in Warsaw in 1786. At that time Poland had already been made smaller by the first division of Poland . Warsaw was still the capital of the state. After Napoléon founded the Duchy of Warsaw in 1807 , Łukasiński signed up for the Polish army. Even after the fall of the Duchy of Warsaw, he remained in the army. He also served in the army of the State of Congress Poland, founded in 1815 . From 1818 he tried to establish contacts with other freedom fighters. In 1818 he tried to found an underground army , the so-called Wolnomularstwo Narodowe ("National Freemasons"). This only existed for a few months.

Łukasiński refused to dismiss various Polish officers from service. The tsarist authorities charged him with seditious activities and insubordination and sentenced him to 7 years of forced labor in the city of Zamość . His term was doubled to fourteen years for allegedly participating in a riot against the poor condition of his detention as a leader. In the course of the November uprising , the conditions for the Polish prisoners were tightened again. From 1830 various Polish resistance fighters were transferred to the high-security prison in Schlüsselburg . Łukasiński was in solitary confinement here from 1831 until his death in 1868 . Allegedly, Łukasiński is said to have had contact with the Russian revolutionary Mikhail Alexandrowitsch Bakunin , who was also imprisoned in the Shlisselburg Fortress.

Receptions
