Walpurga Schindl
Walpurga Schindl (born February 16, 1826 in Absam , † April 30, 1872 in Kremnitz ) was an Austrian writer .
Walpurga Schindl, also known under the name Bogner Burgele , was born in 1826 as the daughter of Bogner host Michael Schindl and his wife Walpurga (née Ruf). When she was 7 years old, her father died. She then lived with her maternal uncle Sebastian Ruf in Tobadill in the Stanzer Valley . This promoted Walpurga's talent as a writer by giving her works by Goethe , Platen and Rückert to read. However, only through acquaintance with members of the Viennese court was Walpurga's talent able to develop. In particular with Archduchess Sophie Friederike , whom she had met in 1848, she had a long correspondence.
In 1858 she married a geometer named Baudysz and finally moved with her husband to Kremnitz (then Hungary , now Slovakia ). She was bedridden for the last seven years of her life with a foot injury. Her early death at the age of 46 ended her work prematurely.
For Adolf Pichler , together with Caroline von Terlago and Angelika von Hörmann, she was considered the "triumvirate" of the most important Tyrolean poets of his time. Her works have appeared in various anthologies.
In Absam, where she was born, the street on which her parents' inn is located is named after her today. A commemorative plaque created in 1903 by the sculptor Edmund Klotz , which is now installed in the Schindlstube in the Landgasthof Bogner, shows a marble portrait of the artist.
