Walter Scheel Prize
The Walter Scheel Prize has been awarded since 2011, the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development . The Walter Scheel Foundation , the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and the Friends of Walter Scheel eV have been the official lenders since 2015 .
The award is given to people and organizations who have made a special contribution to anchoring development cooperation in society and thus motivate other people to become involved. The prize is also intended to honor Walter Scheel , who headed the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, newly created in 1961. The undoped prize is awarded every two years.
