Walter Alexander Bauer

Walter Alexander Bauer (also: Alexander Bauer , Alexander W. Bauer , Alexander Walter Bauer , born May 24, 1921 in Bremen , † November 18, 2011 in Hamburg ) was a German writer .

Life

Walter Alexander Bauer was the son of the police chief secretary Henry Bauer. After attending high school, he completed a commercial apprenticeship . From 1948 he worked as a journalist in Bremen . From 1963 to 1981 he was part of the culture department of the German Press Agency in Hamburg , after which he was an editor in the overseas service of the same agency . Since 1985 he has been a freelance writer . Bauer lived in Worpswede for a long time , most recently in Hamburg.

Walter Alexander Bauer was the author of novels , essays and poems . He belonged to the Association of German Writers , the German PEN Center and the authors' association “ Die Kogge ”. In 1979 he received the cog ring of honor of the city of Minden .

He died on November 18, 2011 in Hamburg.
