Walter Belcher

Walter H. Belcher (born October 2, 1969 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is an American singer and stage actor . It has its roots in gospel music .

Belcher tours Switzerland every year as a gospel singer during the Christmas season, and in some cases he is also on tour in Hungary. He has made himself known in Switzerland and Hungary as a soloist for gospel concerts. He is also an actor in American theaters, especially in his home state of Arizona. For example, he played a butler in the White House in the play Looking Over The Presidents Shoulder . Belcher has made several appearances in front of renowned audiences, including singing in front of ex-President Bill Clinton and Pope John Paul II .

Life

In 1969 Walter Belcher was born in Cleveland, Ohio. His family moved to Tucson, Arizona a few years later. At the age of seven, Belcher began singing in the gospel choir of the local church in Tucson. He studied musicals and theater at the University of Arizona , after which he lived in New York City for three years . After trying various other musical genres such as swing, jazz, musical, pop and rock, he returned to gospel after completing his studies; as he does at the request of his grandfather. In his career he has already worked as a singer, actor and dancer in over 50 countries. He accompanied artists like Liza Minnelli and Bill Cosby on their musical tours before he cut himself off from his role models and became independent. His home connection to Tucson then brought him back to Arizona.

With the help of falsetto , his voice spans around four octaves, so he comes close to capacities like Freddie Mercury or Ivan Rebroff . Belcher speaks several languages. In addition to English as his mother tongue, he speaks fluent Spanish , a few bits of German and Swiss German . Understanding the latter does not cause him any trouble due to the various stays in Switzerland. Belcher is a staunch Christian and makes no secret of his attitude. So it is not surprising that he supports church works on his European tours . For example the Evangelical Church in Frauenfeld or the ICF Zofingen .
