Walter F. Blüchert

Walter Fritz Blüchert (* 1920 in Berlin ; † 2007 in Zurich ) was a German publisher and financial broker .

Life

Blüchert grew up in Berlin in the 1920s. After attending primary school , he completed a commercial college . He then worked for a large printing company for three years, where he developed his passion for publishing.

After the end of the Second World War , Blüchert initially hired the Weserkurier in Bremen as a typesetter . In 1950 he finally founded the Blüchert publishing house in Stuttgart , which secured the German rights for Walt Disney publications in the non-comic area. His company published titles such as " Micky Mouse ", " Bambi " or " Dumbo ", but also fiction and travel literature . In 1957, Blüchert called the “Book and Image” society into being, the object of which was the use and conveyance of copyrights. In 1960 he settled in Zurich , where Blüchert henceforth worked as a financial broker. In this role he worked for the companies of Axel Springer and Reinhard Mohn , among others .

Blüchert was involved in a variety of ways in the social field, for example through donations for old people's homes and hospitals. During his lifetime he appointed Gunter Thielen as executor of his will. According to his ideas, the Walter Blüchert Foundation was established in 2007 , which began its work in 2013. It is recognized as a non-profit organization and supports people who are in need through no fault of their own.
