Walter Brenner (2010)

Walter Hermann Brenner (born June 21, 1958 ) is a Swiss business IT specialist . He is professor of information management and managing director of the Institute for Information Systems at the University of St. Gallen .

Life

Brenner studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen , where he then worked as a research assistant to Hubert Österle and also received his doctorate in 1985 .

After working at Alusuisse- Lonza AG from 1985 to 1989, most recently as Head of Application Development, from 1989 to 1993 he was head of the Information Management 2000 research program at the Institute for Information Systems at the University of St. Gallen. From 1993 to 1999 he was Professor of General Business Administration and Information Management at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg . In 1999 he then moved to the University of Essen as a professor for business informatics and business administration . He has been a professor of business informatics since 2001 and was dean of the business administration department of the University of St. Gallen (School of Management) from 2011 to 2013.

Walter Brenner's main research areas include industrialization of information management, management of IT service providers, customer relationship management, use of new technologies and design thinking .
