Walter Dohmen (* 1941 in Langerwehe ) is a German lithographer, etcher, engraver, wood cutter, art professor and book author who lives and works in Langerwehe.

In his early years he was at the factory art schools in Aachen and Cologne for graduate designers develop. From 1969 to 1982 he was an art teacher and taught at several schools in Düren . From 1982 he was a lecturer in printmaking at Cologne University of Applied Sciences in the field of art and design.

In 1993 he took a guest studio in the Villa Romana , Florence , Italy. He also took over the management of the artistic gravure workshop in the “ Jean Arp ” studio , Locarno , Switzerland. In 1994 he took over the management of the paper making and artistic gravure workshops in the same studio. In 1998 he led the workshop "Artistic Gravure" at the Michaelis School of Fine Art University in Cape Town , South Africa.

Various exhibitions followed in Germany and abroad. In 2009 and 2010 Dohmen worked on two large exhibitions that took place on the occasion of his 70th birthday in 2011. The diocesan museum in the university town of Eichstätt and the large cultural center of Bad Rehberg in northern Germany honored the artist with exhibitions. In 2011 he worked in the lithography workshop in Eichstätt and in the Art Print Residence, Arenys de Munt, Barcelona, ​​Spain, as well as a visiting professorship at the RHoK Academy, Brussels .

In 2018, the Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum Aachen honored his life's work with the purchase of 42 pictures and with the special exhibition: Works on paper from 5 decades

On September 22, 2019, District Administrator Wolfgang Spelthahn presented him with the Düren District Art Prize 2019.
