Walter Fürnrohr

Walter Fürnrohr (born December 31, 1925 in Regensburg ) is a German historian and history teacher .

Life

Walter Fürnrohr studied history, geography and German at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . In 1949 he completed his studies with the 1st state examination. After passing the 2nd state examination, he worked at various high schools between 1950 and 1963. Also at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Fürnrohr received his doctorate with his dissertation on the subject of “The patriciate of the Free Imperial City of Regensburg at the time of the Perpetual Reichstag”. He then lectured at the University of Education in Munich-Pasing, which is now part of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich . In 1971 he was offered a professorship for didactics of history at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

Between 1973 and 1975 Fürnrohr was the association chairman of the Conference for History Didactics , which was founded on an initiative by Fürnrohr. At the Academy for Political Education in Tutzing , from 1976 onwards, he carried out international colloquia on questions of history didactics . Within this framework, the International Society for History Didactics was founded . Fürnrohr took over its chairmanship between 1980 and 1990.

In 1994 Fürnrohr retired . However, until 2001 he continued to give some courses. In the meantime, he has established a working group for contemporary history in Gauting , his residence.
