Walter Fernández Balufo (born August 14, 1989 in Barcelona ), called Walter , is a Spanish football player . He has been under contract with Extremadura UD in the Spanish Segunda División B since the beginning of 2017 .
Career
Fernández started playing football in the youth team of FC Barcelona in 1996 . In 2008 he moved to Antequera CF in the Segunda División B . A year later he signed second division Gimnàstic de Tarragona . While he was a regular there in the 2009/10 season, he only made ten appearances in the following season. In the summer of 2011, the reigning champions Videoton FC brought him to the Hungarian Nemzeti Bajnokság . There he finished the 2011/12 season as runner-up.
At the beginning of 2013, the Belgian club Sporting Lokeren signed Fernández. In the summer of 2013 Lokeren loaned him to Petrolul Ploieşti in the Romanian League 1 for a year . After his return, he was no longer used in the first half of the 2014/15 season. At the beginning of 2015 he switched to Skoda Xanthi in Greece. In Xanthi he became a regular again and reached the final of the Greek Cup with his team , but lost there to Olympiacos . In summer 2015 he moved to Panthrakikos within the Super League . With his new club he fought to stay in the class, in March 2016 his contract was terminated prematurely.
Fernández remained for three months without a club before him CE L'Hospitalet in the Spanish Segunda División B took. At the beginning of 2017 he moved to Extremadura UD .
