Walter Fink (singer)

Walter Fink (* 1949 in Bregenz , Austria ) is an Austrian opera singer (bass).

Life

Walter Fink completed his vocal studies and classical philology studies in Vienna . In 1977 he was accepted into the opera studio of the Vienna State Opera and appeared that year for the first time in the Haus am Ring as a turnkey (in Puccini's Tosca ). From 1982 to 1991 he was engaged in Bremen until he returned to the Vienna State Opera in 1991, where he was a member of the ensemble until the end of the 2013/2014 season. His last appearance was on June 27, 2014 in the same role and production as his debut on October 2, 1977, as a turnkey in Tosca.

Guest appearances have taken him to Berlin, Lyon, the Bregenz Festival , Toulouse, Mannheim and Düsseldorf. At the Vienna State Opera he has sung around 70 different roles in around 650 performances, including Osmin ( Mozart : The Abduction from the Seraglio ), Sarastro (Mozart: The Magic Flute ), Rocco ( Beethoven : Fidelio ), Kaspar ( Weber : Der Freischütz ), Basilio ( Rossini : Il barbiere di Siviglia ), Cardinal Brogni ( Halévy : La juive ), Daland ( Wagner : The Flying Dutchman ), King Heinrich (Wagner: Lohengrin ), Warlaam ( Mussorgski : Boris Godunow ) and Colline ( Puccini : La Bohème ).

In June 2001 he was awarded the Kammersänger title in recognition of his artistic achievements at this house .
