Walter Kindl

Walter Kindl (born November 24, 1943 in Lovrin , Kingdom of Romania ) is a German conductor , organist , musicologist and cathedral music director .

Live and act

After primary school in Comloşu Mare (1950-1954) he attended high school in Teremia Mare (1954-1957) and then the theoretical Lyceum in Lippova (1957-1961), where he graduated from high school in 1961. He then studied at the Conservatory “Gh. Dima ”in Cluj-Napoca (1961–1966) pedagogy, conducting and composition. Kindl worked as a music teacher in Jimbolia from 1966 to 1887 . Since 1970 he has devoted his free time to preserving the historic Banat church organs. In 1988 he became the cathedral music director of the Timișoara diocese .

After the Romanian Revolution in 1989 , he received his doctorate in musicology from the University of Leipzig in 1992. He also completed his music studies in Tübingen (1995), Italy ( Arona 1996 and 1999) and Sweden ( Göteborg 1994 and 1998). In 1993 he was appointed as a lecturer at the music faculty of the West University of Timişoara and appointed professor. In 2008 he took over the position of dean of the music faculty.

Others

Kundl published articles, studies and scientific treatises in newspapers, magazines and encyclopedias in Romania and abroad. He took part in numerous congresses and music symposiums. Kindl is a founding member of the Bach Society in Romania. He is also the author of some folk and church songs. Kindl was the arranger and orchestra leader of some scores by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi ( Stabat mater ), Charles François Gounod (Misa No. 7 in C major), Emanuele d'Astorga (Stabat Mater). He has renovated many historical organs in the Banat, as well as the organs of Peleș and Sinaia castles .
