career

Kubanczyk, who came from TSV Langenau in 1968, has played for SSV Ulm in 1846 since the A-youth. As a libero he became a legend in Ulm. With the club, the defender commuted between the 2nd Bundesliga and Oberliga Baden-Württemberg . In the 1978/79 season the promotion to the second division was achieved for the first time. With 71:37 goals in 38 rounds, the defender won the championship with player opening qualities under coach Klaus-Peter Jendrosch and in cooperation with the 17-time goalscorer Dieter Kohnle and thus the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. The Libero had scored three goals in 35 rounds. In the 2nd Bundesliga he was just as indispensable as he was in the previous league. After relegation in 1981, Kubanczyk had completed 70 competitive games with six goals for the "Spatzen" in two rounds in the 2nd division, he won the direct championship in the upper league in 1981/82 , with the defensive conductor having played all 34 rounds and the Ulm defensive allowed only 23 goals. In the promotion games, however, he failed with the team at FSV Frankfurt and the same point FC Augsburg , who prevailed thanks to the better goal difference. 1982/83 succeeded again the third division championship and the defensive legend had again completed all 36 competitive games. Now the club prevailed in the promotion games and Kubanczyk played two more second division seasons. He played a total of 134 second division games in four second division years, scoring six goals. His last game in the 2nd Bundesliga he played on April 3, 1985 in a 2-0 away defeat at SV Darmstadt 98, where he had to be replaced injured in the 78th minute.

In September 1979 he was on the national team of amateurs for the Olympic qualification. He was used in two games with club colleague Kohnle under DFB coach Erich Ribbeck against Finland (2-0) and Norway (0-2), but the qualification was missed.

After the end of his active career in the summer of 1985, Kubanczyk first became an assistant trainer at SSV Ulm 1846, and later became a department head. He then moved to the coaching bench at FC Gundelfingen , which he coached from 1990 to 1993, as head coach . With the club he made it to the Bayern League . Later he went to FV Biberach and SpVgg Au / Iller , which he coached in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg.
