Walter Laubinger

Walter Laubinger (born November 9, 1967 in Hamburg ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Laubinger began at 04 Billstedt Wacker in Hamburg with the football games . He later moved to Bramfelder SV and played in a team with Stefan Effenberg and Ralf Jester , who also received a professional contract with Hamburger SV . This junior team was considered extremely successful; it even reached the semi-finals of the German B-Junior Championship.

Walter Laubinger was appointed to all junior national teams of the DFB (U15 – U20), was even team leader at times and was considered one of the greatest talents in Germany. At 17 he moved to the A-Jugend for Hamburger SV and shortly thereafter received a contract as a licensed player. His coach at the time, Ernst Happel , nicknamed Laubinger the magician .

In the 1986/87 season he won the DFB Cup with HSV , came second in the Bundesliga and made a few appearances. After that, however, things went downhill for Laubinger, he fell into private problems and his performance deteriorated more and more. From then on, he was also not appointed to the U-21. In 1988 Laubinger moved to the then second division club SpVgg Bayreuth , but could not assert himself there either. After the 1988/89 season he did not return to professional football, but allowed himself to be reamateurised.

Laubinger belongs to the Sinti minority . Today he works as a trainer and was active at Farmsener TV . From 2006 onwards, Laubinger was a youth coach at SC Concordia Hamburg . After his involuntary departure from SC Concordia, Laubinger initially moved to VfL Maschen as a youth coach . Since autumn 2010, Laubinger has been working as a C youth trainer for the oldest sports club in the world, the Hamburg Gymnastics Federation from 1816, or HT16 for short.

Occasionally Laubinger runs for the old men of Hamburger SV.

Furthermore, Laubinger was European champion with the U-16 junior team of the DFB.

Others

Laubinger played in attack, but was also used in attacking midfield. Andreas Möller , Stefan Reuter and Maurizio Gaudino , among others, played in the junior national team, which won the European championship title and in which he was captain . His coach in the national team was Berti Vogts .
