Walter Muhlhausen

Walter Mühlhausen (* 1956 in Eichenberg , North Hesse) is a German historian and university professor.

Life

He completed his studies in German studies , history, politics and education at the University of Kassel with the first state examination. From 1983 to 1986 he was a research assistant for modern and contemporary history at the University of Kassel. After receiving his doctorate in Kassel in 1985 , he was a research assistant and deputy managing director of the Reichspräsident-Friedrich-Ebert-Gedenkstätte Foundation from 1986 to 2008 . From 1995 to 2005 he taught as a lecturer at the University of Mannheim . After completing his habilitation in 2006 at the TU Darmstadt , he has been a private lecturer at the Technical University of Darmstadt since 2006 . Since 2008 he has been managing director and since 2015 a member of the board of the Reichspräsident-Friedrich-Ebert-Gedenkstätte Foundation. In 2012 he was appointed adjunct professor at the Technical University of Darmstadt.

He is a member of the Commission for Political and Parliamentary History of the State of Hesse at the Hessian State Parliament, there a. a. also member of the “Working group for research into the Nazi past of former Hessian state parliament members” and the scientific advisory board of the Association for the History of the Labor Movement in Hesse; of the scientific advisory board “Weimar Republic” e. V. and the scientific advisory board of the Grenzmuseum Schifflersgrund; the Hessian Historical Commission (Darmstadt), the Historical Commission for Nassau (Wiesbaden) and the Historical Commission for Hesse (Marburg), each by appointment and the Historical Commission at the party executive of the SPD (elected). He is liaison professor of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation .

He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Weimar Republic Association for the House of the Weimar Republic .
