Walter Pilar (born August 1, 1948 in Ebensee am Traunsee ; † January 1, 2018 in Linz ) was an Austrian writer , draftsman and visual artist.

Life

Walter Pilar completed his training as a teacher at elementary and secondary schools. Since 1968 he has appeared with performances , actions, exhibitions and publications. He lived in Linz . In 1990 he received the Upper Austrian State Prize for Literature.

Characteristic stylistic features of Pilar are collage techniques and word creations, in which high-level language and dialectal elements are brought into a contrasting tension.

The books of poetry klupperln & duesenjaeger , Anyland , On soft Saturdays and Pickled Kalkeier were at the beginning of his writing career . The first larger and independently published prose work followed in 1996 under the title Lebenssee - a bizarre developmental novel (an "auto-autopsy biographical weakness"). From the multi-volume autobiographical project, the second volume, Lebenssee - just rainbows , was published in 2002 and the third volume in 2015 under the title Lebenssee - Wandelalter .

In WP in Krumau & elsewhere: Axes of the Moment , Pilar processes travel experiences in Bohemia , Lithuania and Slovenia as well as in Mediterranean and native landscapes ( Crete and Salzkammergut ).

On January 1, 2018, Pilar had a fatal accident when he fell down stairs in his house in Linz.
