Walter Posch (Iranist)

Walter Posch (* 1966 in Hall in Tirol ) is an Austrian Iranist and Islamic scholar .

Life

Posch studied Islamic Studies, Turkic and Iranian Studies in Vienna , Istanbul and Bamberg . Since his studies he has been a member of the Catholic student associations K.Ö.HV Alpenland Wien in the ÖCV and KDSt.V. Fredericia Bamberg in the CV . He received his doctorate in 1999 in Bamberg in the subject of Iranian Studies. Posch worked from 2000 to 2004 at the Austrian Institute for Peacekeeping and Conflict Management at the National Defense Academy in Vienna . From April 2004 to April 2009 he was employed as a Research Fellow (from 2006 Senior Research Fellow) at the Institute of the European Union for Security Studies in Paris . From January 2010 to December 2014 Posch was a researcher at the Science and Politics Foundation in Berlin. Since January 2015 he has been working again at the Institute for Peacekeeping and Conflict Management at the National Defense Academy in Vienna.
