Walter Schmid (publisher)
Walter Schmid (born November 16, 1903 in Frauenfeld , Canton Thurgau , † September 8, 1988 in Bern ) was a Swiss publisher and writer .
Life
After Walter Schmid, who was born in Frauenfeld , had completed language and trade schools in Lausanne and London , he took up a position at Hallwag Verlag in Bern in 1927 . There he was elected director in 1937 , a position he held until he retired in 1969.
Walter Schmid also held the office of Central President of the Swiss Booksellers and Publishers Association from 1955 to 1958 . Furthermore, Schmid was a member of the board of the International Publishers Union from 1958 to 1968 . Walter Schmid stood out in particular as the author of mountain and homeland books.
