Walter Strutz

Walter Strutz (born September 13, 1948 in Mainz ) is a German politician ( FDP ). From 2009 to 2011 he was a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Life

Walter Strutz is the older brother of Harald Strutz . He grew up in what is now the Mainz-Hartenberg-Münchfeld district , where his father ran the “Pomeranian Saatzucht” business. He took the political path of his father of the same name, who was chairman of the Mainz FDP and from 1951 president of Mainz 05 . As early as 1967, he was chairman of the Rhineland-Palatinate regional association of young economists in Germany . After graduating from high school, he completed military service from 1970 to 1971. He then worked as a volunteer and editor at the “ Allgemeine Zeitung Mainz ” until 1974 .

In the same year Strutz joined the FDP and then became press spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group and the FDP regional association, which he remained until 1983. In 1979 he left Mainz-Gonsenheim to move with his family to Stadecken-Elsheim . After that he was a consultant in the State Chancellery of Rhineland-Palatinate until 1987 . From 1989 to 2004 he was district chairman of the FDP in Mainz-Bingen . From 1988 to 1991 Strutz was deputy government spokesman in the Wagner cabinet and then from 1992 to 2004 deputy head of department in the Ministry of Economics, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture , where he was also State Secretary to Hans-Artur Bauckhage from 2004 to 2006 . From 2000 to 2006 he was district chairman of the FDP in Rheinhessen-Vorderpfalz. He moved up to the FDP state executive in 2000.

In the next three years after his resignation as State Secretary, he worked as managing director of the Central and Eastern European Center Rhineland-Palatinate GmbH , until he moved into the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate in 2009 as a replacement for Jürgen Creutzmann . There he was deputy chairman of the commission at the state commissioner for data protection and a member of the committee for agriculture and viticulture . In addition to the mandate, he was managing director of Rheinhessen-Energie GmbH until 2010 . In the state election in 2011 he was not re-elected.

Walter Strutz is authorized to represent the board of "Rheinhessen Marketing", an association that aims to improve awareness of the Rheinhessen region and to promote the overall image of the Rheinhessen economic, cultural and living area. On April 17, 2012, he was appointed city manager by the Mainz City Management association as the successor to the outgoing Klaus Hammer . Ansgar Helm-Becker, the group spokesman for the GREEN in the Mainz city council, criticized the election immediately before Michael Ebling's inauguration as Lord Mayor of Mainz as premature and as a care mentality for political pensioners
