Harald Strutz (born December 22, 1950 in Mainz ) is a German sports official and former athlete . From 1988 to 2017 he was president of the sports club 1. FSV Mainz 05 .

Life

Harald Strutz is the younger brother of Walter Strutz . He grew up in the Mainz-Hartenberg-Münchfeld district , where his father ran the “Pomeranian Saatzucht” business. Strutz suggested his father Walter Strutz senior's sport-political path. one who was chairman of the Mainz FDP and from 1951 president of Mainz 05. He made 1970 Abitur at the Gutenberg-Gymnasium in Mainz and studied until 1978 at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz Jura and since 1978 as a lawyer working.

As a track and field athlete for USC Mainz , he was German runner-up in the triple jump in 1969 and 1970 . Strutz has been the legal advisor of the State Sports Federation of Rhineland-Palatinate since 1980 . He has also been a member of the DFB board since 1996 , and since 2001 the DFB and DFL league board as deputy chairman.

Strutz is a member of the FDP , for which he was a member of the Mainz City Council from 1998 to 2019 . There he advocated, among other things, the greater participation of women in the urban planning of Mainz. As a city council member, Harald Strutz also had an advisory role in the local advisory board of his place of residence Mainz-Gonsenheim .
