Walter Wächter
Walter Wächter (born May 26, 1913 in Eimsbüttel ; † November 15, 1983 in Örebro , Sweden ) was a German psychologist , university professor and professor .
Life
Wächter lived with his family in the Hamburg district of Eimsbüttel. Walter Wächter was an enthusiastic footballer and athlete even as a schoolboy . He was initially a member of the HSV , later in the working class a member of the free gymnastics and sports club "Fichte" Hamburg-Eimsbüttel. After its ban in 1933, he belonged to the Jewish gymnastics and sports club Bar Kochba.
In 1932 he finished the advanced school in Schlankreye with the Abitur . A study was denied in 1933 because he Jew was. So at the beginning of 1934 he began a commercial apprenticeship in the Robinsohn brothers' fashion house.
In 1935, he was from the Gestapo arrested in 1936 for his participation in the anti-fascist resistance to a penitentiary sentenced for three years. Immediately after his release in March 1938, Walter Wächter fled Germany. His escape route led him to Sweden, where he worked in agriculture . In 1946 he began studying psychology at the Stockholm University . He became a university lecturer and professor.
His son is the Swedish artist and writer Torkel S. Wächter .
