The small state horticultural show Wassertrüdingen 2019 was a Bavarian state horticultural show that took place from May 24th to September 8th, 2019 in the Central Franconian town of Wassertrüdingen .

description

This garden show took place in the smallest Bavarian community that has ever organized such a garden show. Wassertrüdingen is a town in the district of Ansbach and has about 6000 inhabitants. On March 13, 2012, the city was awarded the contract as the venue. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 15, 2017. 8.6 million euros were invested in the exhibition. At the same time as the garden show, the disused Hesselbergbahn was reactivated .

Garden shows see themselves as a structure-promoting element. The aim is to help the organizing location to become more touristy and provide quality of living in the long term.

The garden show included three large areas. The Wörnitzpark , the path through the city center and the Klingenweiherpark .

In Wassertrüdingen, two large and independent parks were created as part of the design.

Wörnitzpark

The Wörnitzpark was located in the southern area. It covered an area of about 5.1 hectares. The basis for its landscape design was the flood protection of the Wörnitz . This park integrates the necessary dikes into the cityscape and landscape so that they are no longer recognizable as a technical building. The course of the Wörnitz was diverted to protect against flooding of the river and the Lentersheimer Mühlbach in the future. On a peninsula of the Wörnitz a picnic meadow was created and around the mill pond small plazas with seating steps.

The sawmill with the mill pond

The sawmill (D-5-71-214-4), designated as a historical building by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments , has been renovated and forms the southern view of Wassertrüdingen.

A viewing pavilion was built on the site of the so-called Heubrücke .

Klingenweiherpark

The Klingenweiherpark is located in the north of the city. The approximately 8.6 hectare large part was created on a former municipal rubble dump. Now it is a new district park with a spacious adventure playground. The almost one kilometer long Weihersteig is particularly striking in the Klingenweiherpark . It connects the existing three blade ponds and guides visitors through the entire complex. At the northern end of the Weihersteig on the highest elevation of the park, the Bergrose viewing platform offers a panoramic view of the Hesselberg region .

The two main areas of the approximately 13 hectare Wörnitzpark and Klingenweiherpark are not directly connected to each other. In between are parts of the old town, the historic castle moat and other areas such as the sundial park, cemetery and school. These are also part of the garden show and are connected to one another via a well-marked path.

Supporting program

The garden show was opened on May 24, 2019 by the Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder and others with the words It is about nature and city - nature and culture to complement each other perfectly .

The garden show was not only aimed at flower and garden fans. The changing supporting program offered dance and music performances, art installations and numerous enjoyment and entertainment offers. In addition to several playgrounds, there are various hands-on programs for children. There are numerous dining areas on the premises and in the old town.

To the east of the Wörnitzpark there was a large, chargeable car park.
