execution

The state horticultural show took place from April 28, 1989 to October 15, 1989 under the motto Blooming Straubing in the Lower Bavarian town of Straubing.

The focus of the show was the Landesgartenschaupark, which is located on the northwestern edge of the city center at the transition to the Donauaue. When designing the park, the natural features of the area such as the slope edge to the Danube plain and the existing water bodies were included in the planning. The ice rink at the Powder Tower , which is located on the eastern edge of the park, was also integrated.

In the course of the state horticultural show, the adjacent Gerberviertel , the large Am Hagen car park, where the Gäubodenvolksfest and the East Bavarian Show take place, and the pedestrian connections in the city center were redesigned. In addition, biotope networks were created in the open landscape, which were also made possible by land consolidation processes.

The state horticultural show was attended by 1.03 million guests.
