Landesgartenschau Marktredwitz-Cheb 2006
The Landesgartenschau Marktredwitz-Cheb 2006 was a Bavarian state horticultural show in Marktredwitz and took place for the first time across borders together with the Czech city of Cheb (Eger).
What was special about the Marktredwitz State Horticultural Show was that an industrial wasteland was converted and connected with bank and floodplain areas to create a recreational area and an area for events. In the Czech part of the garden show, in Cheb, the area below the city castle was revitalized along the bastion walls. There were previously rubble heaps and the site was divided into many small plots, including allotments. The renovation made the site accessible to the public again for the first time and has since been used as a local recreation area and as a tourist attraction within the historic old town and the castle and also as an event location, e.g. B. the Bambiriáda used. A cross-border aspect is the new construction of a cycle path connecting both cities.
