The State Garden Show Ingolstadt 2021 is the 33rd State Garden Show in the Free State of Bavaria . Ingolstadt , an independent city on the Danube , will host the garden show in 2021.
Since July 2017, a family-friendly local recreation area for the people of the region has been created in the densely populated north-west of Ingolstadt . Due to the current corona pandemic , the Ingolstadt State Horticultural Show planned for 2020 has been postponed by one year. From April 23, 2021 to October 3, 2021, the state horticultural show will offer a diverse program of exhibitions and events with references to sustainability under the motto "Inspiration Nature" .
prehistory
State garden shows are held annually in Bavaria . The event period extends to about half a year. The scope of the measures is adapted to the size of the organizing city and its financial possibilities.
Ingolstadt is using the “Impulsgeber Gartenschau”, co-financed by the EU Fund for Regional Development and the Free State of Bavaria, for the second time. A successful example of more green in the city is the Klenzepark , which was created in 1992 as part of the first Ingolstadt State Horticultural Show .
The city of Ingolstadt submitted its second application in November 2009. Almost twenty years after the first state horticultural show, Ingolstadt was awarded the contract for the state horticultural show in Ingolstadt 2020 in February 2010 as part of an urban development project. This is the 20th Bavarian state horticultural show.
The company was founded on October 1, 2013. The shareholders are the city of Ingolstadt with 60% and the Bayerische Landesgartenschau GmbH with 40%. The constituent meeting of the Supervisory Board took place on November 28, 2013.
In autumn 2014, a Europe-wide competition for the design of the permanent park was announced. The Därr landscape architecture firm from Halle an der Saale emerged as the winner.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the garden exhibition site took place on July 7, 2017.
The investment costs for the State Garden Show amount to a total of 21 million euros net, minus around 6 million euros in subsidies. Around 13 million euros have been calculated for the state horticultural show. The State Horticultural Show has to recoup this amount mainly through entrance fees and leases.
On April 1st, 2020 it was announced that the 2020 State Garden Show would be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic . The opening is now expected to take place on May 29, 2020 (instead of April 24, as originally planned), and it was also decided to extend it to October 18, 2020 (instead of October 4, originally). Another assessment of the situation should take place at the beginning of May.
On May 7, 2020, the supervisory board of the State Horticultural Show Ingolstadt 2020 GmbH and the Ingolstadt City Council both voted unanimously to postpone the State Horticultural Show to 2021. The Ingolstadt State Horticultural Show will take place next year from April 23 to October 3, 2021. [1]
Concept and terrain
For the execution of the exhibition and the landscaping of the resulting modern long-term parking facility, the implementation company Ingolstadt 2020 GmbH was assigned a previously agriculturally used terrain with an area of 23 hectares in the north-west of the industrially rich, slightly outside the city center. The area extends over a length of 1.5 km from north to south and is located in the middle of the axis between the three districts of Piusviertel, Hollerstauden , Friedrichshofen and the municipality of Gaimersheim .
On the horticultural show site itself there are agricultural areas in the southeast , which will be farmed again after the state horticultural show has ended .
Like Ingolstadt itself, the new horticultural show grounds are caught between tradition and progress. Trade, industry, traffic and economic agriculture exert pressure on the site from all sides. The landscape design takes up this tension. Just as molecules under high pressure arrange themselves in a lattice structure according to the laws of physics, i.e. become crystals, the surfaces and architectural design elements are also strictly linear.
With the conversion of the previously agriculturally used terrain into a modern landscape park, the second green ring in Ingolstadt is to be strengthened, a local recreation area and connection between the city districts are to be created, and biodiversity is to be promoted.
The following are planned as permanent facilities within the state horticultural show area: the Piussteg, access to the WestPark, the park terrace, the landscaped lake, the water playground, the water gardens, the play hill, the apple tree meadow, the gardens of the partner cities and the compensation area .
Piussteg
The 150 m long and 4.30 m wide Piussteg, a car-free footbridge, leads over Hans-Stuck-Straße and connects the garden show grounds with the Piusviertel. At its highest point, the footbridge is 5.50 m high and allows a wide view of the garden show grounds. A lighting concept that is built into the column heads illuminates the Piussteg at night. After the end of the state horticultural show, the Piussteg will become part of the Ingolstadt expressway network that is currently being developed, as will the approximately 6 km of cycle and footpaths within the state horticultural show.
Park terrace
The park terrace forms the center of the park. The square forms the entrance for the visitors. From the east you can get there via the Piussteg, which spans Hans-Stuck-Straße and leads over the park terrace to the lake. An example of the crystalline architecture are the plant crystals covered with red, orange and yellowish perennials, which radiate like lightning around the park terrace. After the state horticultural show, the park terrace will be available to Ingolstadt citizens as a new meeting point.
Landscape lake
The 5500 m² landscaped lake, which has a capacity of 9,000 m 3 and is around 3.30 m at its deepest point, is used for recreational purposes, it is not allowed to swim in it. Handicapped people and wheelchair users can access the water via a ramp parallel to the steps.
In the eastern area of the lake, on two submerged 700 m² terraces, around 1700 aquatic plants and 300 floating leaf plants such as water lilies are planted. These are part of the fully biological water purification system, which in future will clean the entire lake without the use of chemical agents.
Water playground
To the south of the lake is the 3000 m² water playground, which includes fountains, pumps, water cannons, trampolines, sliding surfaces and climbing facilities with net and rope connections. Even in autumn and winter, the system can still be used with the water function switched off.
Water gardens
The water gardens are an experience for all the senses. The water runs over different pools at different levels and water heights. Visitors can cross bodies of water with the help of stepping stones and walk between walls of water. The structure of plants, stone and water also offers a suitable habitat for dragonflies and butterflies.
Play hill
The play hill is a playground with integrative play equipment in the north of the garden show area, where children with and without handicaps can play together. The playground can be experienced with all the senses through play equipment such as a peephole, ringing cymbal trees or funnel telephones.
Apple orchard
The apple tree meadow is located directly on the flower path that connects the north of the site with the south. The apple tree meadow is a place of relaxation and offers numerous animals and insects food and habitat in all seasons. During the garden show there is a stage for changing events. After the garden show has ended, the apple tree meadow can still be used by the citizens as a meadow orchard.
program
The Ingolstadt State Horticultural Show is intended to have an extensive program for young and old. Offer. Many regional musicians and bands will give concerts on one of the three stages.
The topic of "sustainability" is the core topic of the exhibitor contributions to the State Garden Show. One contribution to the exhibition presents conventional agriculture, the other shows organic farming. For the first time, the topic of agriculture is represented on a larger scale at a state horticultural show in Bavaria.
Show and themed gardens show the possibilities of environmentally and resource-saving garden design.
In the city laboratory, food trucks, sales stands with sustainable products, cultural events and many future-oriented exhibition topics such as farming with robotics or sustainable urban development can be experienced.
From April to October 2020, a total of 14 flower shows on different topics should take place in the flower hall.
mascot
The mascot of the state horticultural show, a spherical hamster, was presented for the first time at the construction site festival on September 22, 2019.
At the construction site festival, visitors were allowed to submit suggestions for the hitherto unnamed European hamster. From a total of 460 ideas, a jury selected four names that could be voted on for a week on the State Horticultural Show's Facebook page. The clear winner of the vote was the name Fips.
