Walter Womersley

Sir Walter James Womersley, 1st Baronet , PC , Kt (* 5. February 1878 , † 15. March 1961 ) was a British politician of the Conservative Party , among others 1924-1945 Member of Parliament ( House of Commons ) as well as 1939 to 1945 Minister of Pensions . In 1945 he was promoted to baronet .

Life

Womersley was in the election on 29 October 1924 as a candidate of the Conservative Party for the first time as a member of the lower house ( House of Commons ) selected and represented in this until July 5, 1945 constituency Grimsby . After leaving the government and the House of Commons, Womersley was given the hereditary title of Baronet on September 3, 1945 , of Grimsby in the County of Lincoln . On his death on March 15, 1961, his grandson Peter John Walter Womersley inherited the title of 2nd Baronet.
