Walter Zöllner

Walter Zöllner (born October 1, 1932 in Halle an der Saale ; † September 20, 2011 there ) was a German historian .

Life

Walter Zöllner, born in Halle in 1932, received his doctorate after studying history in 1958 on a topic relating to the early documents of the Halberstadt bishops. In 1963 he completed his habilitation with the work The documents and records of ownership of the Hamersleben monastery (1108–1462) . Subsequently, Zöllner, as successor to Anton Blaschka, held the chair for historical auxiliary sciences at the Institute for History of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . Since 1993 he has been a full member of the philological-historical class of the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig (since April 16, 1993) and of the Historical Commission for Saxony-Anhalt .
