Walther Lehmkuhl
Walther Lehmkuhl (born May 21, 1905 in Kiel , † November 22, 1970 in Neumünster ) was a German local politician ( SPD ).
Career
As the son of a worker, Lehmkuhl attended elementary school from 1912 to 1921 and then learned to be a machinist at the Germa-nia shipyard in Kiel until 1925. He became a member of the German Metal Workers Association and in 1922 joined the Socialist Workers' Youth (SAJ) and the SPD. From October 1925 to 1929 he took part in the workers' high school graduate course at the Kaiser-Friedrich-Realgymnasium in Berlin-Neukölln directed by Fritz Karsen , which later became the Karl Marx School , and completed his participation with the Abitur.
After graduating from high school, Lehmkuhl studied law in Berlin, Heidelberg and Frankfurt am Main and was able to take his first state examination in January 1933. He then worked as an administrative lawyer until the beginning of the Second World War. He was a soldier from 1943 to 1945.
Lehmkuhl was chief town director in Kiel from 1946 to 1950 and mayor of the city of Neumünster from 1950 to 1970 . The regional vocational training center of the city of Neumünster is called Walther-Lehmkuhl-Schule
On December 27, 1945, Lehmkuhl was elected chief city director of Kiel, taking office in February 1946. In 1950, after his election to the full-time mayor of Neumünster. Shortly after his retirement, Lehmkuhl died there on November 22, 1970.
Lehmkuhl was also the managing director of the Schleswig-Holstein regional association of the German Association of Cities and a member or chairman of numerous committees and supervisory boards.

- Freiherr-vom-Stein commemorative medal of the State of Schleswig-Holstein
- The Walther-Lehmkuhl-Schule, the regional vocational training center of the city of Neumünster for trade and technology, is named after him.
