Waltraud Schwammer

Waltraud Schwammer (born November 18, 1962 ) is an Austrian politician for the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). From 2012 to 2015 she was a member of the Styrian state parliament . In addition, she has been the mayor of the Dechantskirchen community and religion teacher since 2005 .

Schwammer's path led through the parish council, of which she was a qualified religious teacher for five years, into politics. As soon as she ran for the first time, she was elected mayor in the local council elections in 2005 , as the first woman in the Hartberg district, as a political career changer in the Dechantskirchen community. In 2010 she and her team were able to win three more municipal council mandates. In the community she took initiatives to create an industrial area and to build the sports center and the music house.

Schwammer is also the chairwoman of the local ÖVP and deputy chairman of the district ÖVP. In addition, she is the leader of the “Steirisches Wechselland” region and a member of the committee for health and care.

On January 17, 2012, Schwammer was sworn in as the successor to Angelika Neuhold in the state parliament. There she was the spokesperson for the ÖVP for education. She gave her first speech on April 24, 2012 on the subject of “massive interventions in the European Protected Area No. 27 Lafnitztal - Neudauer Teiche ”. After the ÖVP suffered heavy losses in the state elections, it left the state parliament in June 2015.

Schwammer is a trained religion teacher . She attended the Religious Education Academy in Graz. In 2011 she celebrated her 25th anniversary with the company. As such it is but because of their political activities on leave .
