Waltraut Hennig

Waltraut Hennig (born July 1, 1921 in Greifenhagen ; † March 5, 2015 ) was a German functionary of the FDGB and the GDR block party LDPD . From 1967 to 1986 she was a member of the People's Chamber of the GDR .

Life

Hennig, the daughter of a dentist, attended grammar school and graduated from high school for women. From 1941 to 1942 she completed an apprenticeship as a bank clerk.

After the Second World War , she worked as a dental assistant in her father's practice. When she met Erich Damerow again in 1946 , who as Lord Mayor of Koethen was a friend of her family, she became a member of the Liberal Democratic Party of Germany (LDPD). From 1947 to 1948 she took part in a new teacher course in Köthen. From 1948 to 1965 she worked as a teacher, taking the first and second teacher exams in 1951 and 1953. Hennig, from 1962 a student councilor, became a senior student councilor and teacher training officer at the Köthen district council in 1965 .

Hennig was a member of the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) from 1947 . From 1962 to 1967 she was a member of the FDGB district board in Halle and from 1963 to 1967 she was a member of the women's commission of the district board.

From 1967 to 1986 she was a member of the LDPD parliamentary group in the People's Chamber. She was a member of the youth committee. In 1969 she became a member of the women's commission of the LDPD central board and in 1972 a member of the Presidential Council of the GDR Cultural Association .

Waltraut Hennig was married and had one daughter. She lived in Köthen and died at the age of 93.
