Wang Chen ( Chinese  王晨 , Pinyin Wáng Chén ; born December 1950 in Beijing ) is a Chinese politician and has been a member of the 19th Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Director of the Cyberspace Administration of China since October 2017 .

Career

Wang was born in Beijing in December 1950. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1969 . During the Cultural Revolution was to land in the community Yijun the district Yan'an in the province of Shaanxi been sent. He studied at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences from 1979 to 1982 and graduated with a master's degree in journalism. In 1995, Wang became the editor-in-chief of Guangming Daily and later of People's Daily. He was President of the People's Daily from 2002 to 2008. Wang Chen was a member of the 16th, 17th and 18th Central Committee of the CPC. From 2008 to 2011 he was director of the Information Office of the State Council . In 2011 he became director of the state Internet information bureau. From 2013 to 2018 he was Secretary General and Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress . He has been a member of the Politburo of the 19th CPC Central Committee since 2017.
