Wang Haibin ( Chinese  王海滨 , Pinyin Wáng Hǎibīn ; born December 15, 1973 in Nanning ) is a former Chinese foil fencer .

Career

Wang Haibin achieved great success at the Asian Games . In 1994 he secured the silver medal with the team in Hiroshima . At the Asian Games in Bangkok in 1998 and the Asian Games in Busan in 2002 , he won the gold medal in both individual and team competition. At world championships , Wang won bronze with his team in Athens in 1994 and an individual bronze medal in Cape Town in 1997 , followed by silver medals in the team competition in Seoul in 1999 and in Havana in 2003 . Four times he took part in Olympic Games in part: in 1992 in Barcelona and 1996 in Atlanta , he missed the finals in singles and with the team, while in 2000 in Sydney reached the final with the team. After victories over Russia and Italy, the Chinese team lost to France with just 44:45 and thus won silver. At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, China entered the battle for the gold medal after victories over South Korea and the United States . There the team lost to Italy with 42:45, so that Dong won the silver medal again. In the individual competitions in 2000 and 2004, he was eliminated in the preliminary rounds.

After his active career, he started working as a coach. Among other things, he was the coach of the Chinese national team and Yale University .
