Wang Hongni (born March 9, 1982 in Jinan , Shandong ) is a former Chinese triathlete , Olympian (2004) and Asian triathlon champion (2005).

Career

Wang Hongni studied at a Chinese military sports university for three years. At the Asian Triathlon Championships in the Philippines in April 2004 she won the silver medal behind Akiko Sekine from Japan .

2004 Summer Olympics

Wang also took part in the Summer Olympics held in Athens that year . Wang Hongni finished the Olympic competition on August 25th in 40th place.

In July 2005 she became the Asian triathlon champion. In Doha , Wang won the gold medal at the 2006 Asian Games .

Doping ban 2007

During a doping control during a training phase on August 24, 2007, Wang Hongni was found to have misused testosterone . The world association pronounced a two-year ban on the 24-year-old, who was considered a gold hope for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing . This ban expired in October 2009.
