history

The village was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1419 and received Magdeburg city charter in 1538 . At that time it was initially in the Bełz Voivodeship as part of the aristocratic republic of Poland . The city belonged to the Austrian Galicia from 1772 to 1918 and after the end of the First World War came the place to Poland (in the voivodeship Lemberg , Powiat Sokal, Gmina Waręż), was in the Second World War from September 1939 to summer 1941 by the Soviet Union , then occupied by Germany until 1944 and returned to Poland after the end of the war.

In the course of the Polish-Soviet exchange of territory in 1951, the city and the surrounding area came to the Soviet Union because of their large coal deposits , there it became part of the Ukrainian SSR , lost its city status, was renamed Nowoukrajinka / Nowoukrainka (until 1989) and has been part of the present-day Ukraine.

The ruins of the Church of St. Mark, which was built at the end of the 17th century, are particularly worth seeing in the village.
