The Wartbergkirche is the church of the Evangelical Wartberg-Au parish in Heilbronn . It gets its name from its location at the foot of the Wartberg in Schüblerstraße 6.

In 1959, the Wartberg parish was established in the new Heilbronn residential area southwest of the Wartberg, with 4200 parishioners at the time. From 1965 to 1967, the Wartberg Church was rebuilt for them according to designs by Heilbronn architect Rudolf Gabel , making it the youngest of the Protestant churches in the Heilbronn core city. Declining membership numbers in the neighboring Au parish in the lower industrial area led to the merger of this parish with the Wartberg parish in 1995. Since then, the Wartbergkirche has also been the church of Protestant Christians from the Heilbronn industrial area.

The Wartbergkirche is a striking exposed concrete building in the style of the 1960s. The floor plan of the church is in the shape of a hexagon , above it rises a roof structure that is reminiscent of a tent and is clad with wood on the inside. The interior of the church is kept functional and hardly decorated. The pulpit , baptismal font and altar are made of black marble and, like the copper altarpiece and the entrance door, are the work of the sculptor Fritz Melis . The artist Hans Gottfried von Stockhausen created a small, colorful baptismal window in the chancel showing the baptism of Jesus and three larger windows in the back of the church. The organ with 22 registers was built in 1970 by the Friedrich Weigle company from Echterdingen .

The 34  m high church tower stands next to the church building. Both are largely greened with climbing plants. The five bells of the church correspond in their tone sequence to the Phrygian church key , which is why the Wartberg church is known to those interested in bells even beyond Heilbronn.
