Vascha Tarchnishvili ( Georgian ვაჟა თარხნიშვილი ; Russian Важа Тархнишвили ; born August 25, 1971 in Gori ) is a former Georgian football player who has worked as a sports director for Sheriff Tiraspol since 2012 .

life and career

Wascha Tarchnishvili was born in Gori in 1971 . After playing at smaller clubs, the big club Dila Gori finally noticed him and signed him in 1991. By 1998, he completed a total of 211 league games for Dila, in which the defender also scored four goals. In 1998 he made his debut in the Georgian national team under coach Vladimir Guzayev, although he was only part of the team twice.

After Tarchnishvili played briefly with Lokomotiv Tbilisi , he moved in 1999 to Sheriff Tiraspol in Transnistria in the Moldovan football league. He then played for Tiraspol for well over a decade until he finally ended his active career in 2012. Tarchnishvili played for Sheriff in 520 league games (29 goals), won 11 Moldovan championship titles and the Moldovan Football Cup seven times . He was also able to record some successes with Sheriff at the international level, such as winning the CIS Cup in 2003 and 2009. In 2012 Tarchnishvili ended his career as an active player. Since then he has been the sports director at Sheriff Tiraspol.

Tarchnishvili is also a Moldovan citizen.
