The Waschstein is a boulder below the Königsstuhl in the Jasmund National Park on Rügen . The boulder comes from the north-east of Bornholm and consists of Precambrian Svaneke - granite . In 2005 it was designated as a geotope with the number G2_071.

The boulders off the coast Jasmund are the glaciers from Scandinavia during the last ice age in the Pleistocene been transported to Northern Germany.

The washing stone , 22 m 3 in size and weighing around 60 tons, is on average 4 m long and 3 m wide and high. One of the first descriptions of the stone was made in 1797 by Johann Friedrich Zöllner in a travel guide for Pomerania and Rügen. This boulder is the scene of the legend of the virgin on the Waschstein near Stubbenkammer, which has been described several times in the Pomeranian regional literature. The story is one of the extensive legends surrounding the legendary pirate Klaus Störtebeker .
