CI Acid Blue 22 (also water-soluble aniline blue ) is an acid dye from the group of triphenylmethane dyes . Both the substance mixture of Acid Blue 22 with the very similar Acid Blue 93 ( methyl blue ) and these two pure substances themselves are often referred to as water-soluble aniline blue .

properties

Acid Blue 22 has an absorption maximum in the wavelength range of 600 nm. The dye is soluble in water.

use

Acid Blue 22 stains collagen in tissue structures blue. It is used as dye for the Polychrom - staining of histological sections, in the cytology and the pH - indicator used (pH 10.0 to 13.0). It is also used to make chromosomes visible. It is also used for the manufacture of ink and the dyeing of cotton, silk and paper. The dye is also contained in China Blue Lactose Agar and serves as a pH indicator to show the acid formation by bacteria when lactose is broken down.
