The Quitaracsa hydropower plant (Spanish Central Hidroeléctrica Quitaracsa ) is located on the Río Quitaracsa, a right tributary of the Río Santa , in northwestern Peru , 370 km north-northwest of the state capital Lima . The power plant is located in the Yuracmarca district in the Huaylas province of the Ancash administrative region . The Cañón del Pato hydroelectric power station is in the immediate vicinity . The operator of the system is EnerSur.
Hydroelectric power plant
The cavern power plant , located at an altitude of 1470 m , is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera near the mouth of the Río Quitaracsa, not far from the Cañón del Pato gorge , about 10 km north-northeast of the provincial capital Huaylas .
The underground hydropower plant Quitaracsa was built between 2011 and 2015. It is equipped with two Pelton turbines . The total installed capacity is 112 MW. The annual energy production is probably 457 GWh. The unused VAT drop height is 872.8 m, the net drop height 855 m, the expansion amount of water is 15 m / s. The power plant can be reached via a 316 m long access tunnel. Next to the machine house is another chamber which houses the transformers.
Equalization basin
The discharge point on the Río Quitaracsa is at an altitude of 2343 m . There is an equalization basin ( ⊙ ) with a capacity of 450,000 m³. The water reaches the power plant via a 5.8 km long tunnel. Below the power plant, the water is fed back into the river via a 590 m long tunnel. The discharge point ( ⊙ ) into the river is at an altitude of 1465 m .
