Wassili Berwi

Vassily Berwi-Flerovsky , also N. Flerovsky - pseudonym, real name William Wilhelmowitsch Berwi ( Russian Вильгельм Вильгельмович Берви * April 28 jul. / 10. May  1829 greg. In Ryazan , † 4. October 1918 in Yuzovka ) was a Russian economist and sociologist known under this pseudonym.

Berwi was the son of Wilhelm Berwi (1792-1859), professor of physiology at the University of Kazan , and great-grandson of the former British consul in Danzig Friedrich (Frederic?) Von Berwick.

He studied law at the Kazan University (1845–1849).

Berwi was a representative of popular utopian socialism. His book "Situation of the Working Class in Russia" (1869) placed Karl Marx on a par with Engels' work " The Situation of the Working Class in England " from 1845.
