Wayne Lawrence

Wayne Lawrence (* 1974 in St. Kitts , St. Kitts and Nevis , West Indies ) is a documentary photographer living and working in Brooklyn , New York City , USA .

Life

Lawrence first came to New York City at the age of 16. From there he went to the western United States, where he found work as a carpenter. He later attended the Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara , California .

His photographic work has appeared in the New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker , the Sunday Times , Newsweek , Esquire , Mare , Marie Claire and many other publications, among others .

Prizes and awards

Lawrence has received various awards and grants for his work since 2010.

Exhibitions

Lawrence's works have been exhibited at various locations, including the Amerikahaus in Munich, the Bronx Museum of Art, the African American Museum in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , the Nathan Cummings Foundation and other galleries.
