Wayne Morris (* 17th February 1914 in Los Angeles , California , USA as Bert de Wayne Morris ; † 14. September 1959 in Oakland , California, USA) was an American actor .

Life

Wayne Morris took acting classes at the Pasadena Playhouse . A Warner Brothers talent scout noticed him in 1936 and signed him. He was quickly committed to the role of the "nice sonny boy next door". He was successful as the main actor in Kid Galahad - With Hard Fists (1937). During the production of an aviator film, Morris' interest in aviation grew, so he got his pilot's license. During World War II he joined the American Navy. After shooting down seven Japanese aircraft and sinking five ships, he returned to civilian life in a highly decorated manner. However, the war hero could not build on his pre-war stardom. With a few exceptions, Morris only played in B-productions. The portrayal of Lieutenant Roget in Stanley Kubrick's Paths to Fame was once again a highlight of his acting skills. This role could have given a new boost to his career, but initially he was drawn to television. He has guest roles in many series, including Smoking Colts , Maverick , Alfred Hitchcock Presents , Josh , Bronco and New Orleans, Bourbon Street .

Morris has been married twice. Through his marriage to Patricia Ann O'Rourke in 1942, he became brother-in-law of the actor couple Peggy Stewart and Buck Young . Morris died of a heart attack in 1959 and was buried with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery.
